# Surf City Steve (Ocean Beach) - October 10, 2025
What up, surf casters! Surf City Steve here, bringing you the latest from the suds and sand. The fall migration is heating up, and the beaches are alive!
## Ocean Beach Overview
The surf is starting to get interesting with the cooler weather. We're seeing blues and some bass in the wash, and the mullet run is in full swing, which is always a good sign. Conditions are setting up for some classic fall mayhem.
## Long Island Surf
Folks are picking blues and bass in the surf, and everyone is eagerly awaiting the full start of the fall run. The storm in the forecast for this weekend might just kick things into high gear. More and larger bass have been reported in Raritan Bay this week, which is a promising sign for what's to come on the beaches [1].
Surf fishermen have been picking at bluefish up to 23 inches on metals off Island Beach State Park (IBSP), along with tog towards the southern end of the park [2].
## Bait & Conditions
The mullet run is in full effect, providing ample bait for striped bass and bluefish. The cooler temperatures are a welcome change and should continue to push more fish along the coast. The marine forecast is calling for strong winds this weekend, which will make for some challenging, but potentially rewarding, surf conditions. There might be a short window on Saturday morning for bluefish, tog, or the occasional striped bass in the inlets [2].
## Tactical Tips
For bluefish, metals and topwater plugs are the way to go. Keep an eye out for birds working, as that often indicates bait and feeding fish. For striped bass, live mullet or bunker will be key as they move through. If you're targeting tog from the jetties, green crabs and sand fleas are your best bet. Be safe out there with the upcoming weather, and always respect the ocean.
