Tautog Poachers Busted in Rhode Island - On The Water

During the boarding, Environmental Police Officers from DEM’s Division of Law Enforcement discovered the illegally harvested tog.

Happens all the time. I wish each State could afford to have a enough COs to keep these guys in check.
Most anglers follow the Regs and these guys steal from us all.

No mention of confiscating all the fishing gear and towing the boat away, just fines. BFD- a slap on the wrist follows.

The keeper ratio has been pitiful this year in the western sound.Some days it`s hard to get anything near keeper size I do believe all these %$##$%^^ keeping shorts are out of control. They have the nerve to clean their shorts out in the open at my marina.Most of the shorts are being sold live to you know who.It`s mostly about the money.Nothing is getting done to stop these low lifes from depleting the waters of blackfish.

Confiscation and auctions are the answer. But I am not talking about a single 18 3/4” fluke or a 15 7/8” weak or tog either. Tow the boat and the cars once the fish go in the trunk
