Teaser or not ?

Opinions wanted. When kayaking, I normally am fluke or weakfishing in ten to twenty feet of water. This year, after attending a couple of seminars at ward melville hs and seeing Lep's buck recommendations, I went lighter than I used to, with a 3/4 oz Gulp tipped buck (haven't bought bait in many years) with light fluorocarbon and braid and a medium action and power 6' Tsunami Slimwave and a light Daiwa spinning reel. Some of the videos on the web (Skinner, Elias, etc.) seem to shun the use of teasers, which I always use surfcasting and still use off the yak, usually a hook that I dressed with harvested bucktail and some Krystal Flash and another Gulp. What is the general opinion of the need for teasers given how and where I fish ? Getting rid of the teaser allows my jig to get down quicker but is it worth the sacrifice ?

1/4 oz above your 3/4 oz. Stick with what works for you. Mono direct to braid. For whatever reason 10# get abused at knot with a barrel or TAC (does for me).
Stop watching YouTube and second guessing yourself.
Tsunami Glass Minnow are great above you buck and gulp if too much wind or tide.

Oh and don’t fear the light line except for snags.
I’ve used it for a season just snagging bunker. Caught one 30# bass that wrapped around a bulkhead and still use only 10# for Albies. Use the drag lightly and you’ll like it for what you want to use it for.

In my opinion a weighted teaser above a bucktail of other jig only steals the actionfrom the bottom jig .Where as an unweigthed teaser plain hook with a twister tail (gulp or what ever) or a bucktail dressed hook acts much more natually in the water (flows more naturally in the current) .Being that my fluke catch is at least 50 50 teaser and jig definatly keep using one for fluke.
