I agree. It's obvious to me that if the "Holiday Closures" were made permanent this could clean up pretty fast. But do we really want to stop boaters from these popular areas?

Maybe some day they will spend the time to enforce the no discharge laws rather than just taking the easy way out by shutting the areas down. ?

I seem to be saying "maybe someday" more and more lately.

Absolutely, although I was made to understand that some "Seasonally Uncertified Waters" are Federally mandated. In my "hood" Maine DMR uses the Federal rule that waters near a marina even when tested cannot be certified during the boat season and I'm shutdown May 1 through September 30 because there's a "Marina" here, which doesn't even exist, just a town mooring field. To date this year, I've seen 3 transient boats in the harbor, which is probably 2 more than other years.

Come October 1 when the Federal mandates end, does Maine DMR test the water??? HELL NO!! "We know the water's fine so why bother??" Talk about bureaucracy!!

And god forbid someone were to try pushing for that enforcement they'd just just get shot down as some crazy enviro whacko trying to takes everybody's rights away to take a dump on their boat and toss it overboard:rolleyes:;)
