The Great American Eclipse

Final shot, a "Diamond Ring" with a reflection showing the real occlusion by the moon.

ya know - this drove home the short span of your existence...........................

I got to sort of observe it & thought "I can't wait for the next one" - however - the next one won't be for another 22 years as I understand it.

I won't be here.

I guess I should be happy that I got to witness at least two, maybe three of them. There was at least one prior to the 2017 eclipse that I recall.

A final word, on an absolutely amazing experience. If you think that "Well I saw 97% covered, so I saw it." you couldn't be more wrong.

I've witnessed 6 other solar eclipses up to 97%, in my life and they didn't eve come close to the AMAZING EXPERIENCE that a total eclipse presents. I can't recommend it enough that if you're ever presented with the once in a lifetime experience of a total solar eclipse, DO IT!!

The absolute icing on my Eclipse Experience today was the fact that the normally cloudy April skies of Northern Maine by Moosehead Lake, were totally clear of clouds, an absolutely crystal clear blue sky!!!

Well, another Bucket List Item crossed off, just amazing.

Amazing experience, isn't it?

Since the one in 2017 we've kind of become eclipse snobs.

As much as this partial (for us here) was cool and interesting, totality is da bomb. When that moment hits it's like you're instantly teleported to another planet. It is so eerie and other-worldly, if it doesn't move you, you have no soul.

There were many times when my dog Max would see me concentrating on something & he'd be staring in the same direction. Probably thought that there was something he could eat or chase - but he mirrored what I was doing,

So the commentor's advice had some validity in my mind.

Never had a dog, so no frame of reference. However the cat I had custody of for a couple if years would go out of it's way to pretend to ignore anything I was focused on. But, you know,... cats.

Regarding to dogs experience:
While we viewed from 2:15pm - 4-pm we had three dogs in yard that regularly visit.

None of the the dogs had reacted to the event.

Probably belongs in the WTF Headline thread. Considering that a total solar eclipse always has, and will continue to happen every 18 months, HTF can anyone but a certifiable idiot can attribute the an eclipse to global warming, or implicate a regularly-scheduled periodic cicada hatch to climate too???

I love that even Whoopie called her out...
