Never get out of your car. Never mind getting run over, you never know who's carrying and would kill you as soon as looking at you. Just wave, say sorry and go your merry way to live another day.
or drive to the nearest Police Precinct House...................

True story.

Happened nearly 30 years ago. I was living in Kings Park at the time (Dawson Avenue). I was having a serious issue with my next door neighbor. There was a very strong possibility that their 13 year old son molested my then 3 year old daughter. We could never prove it however & it turned into a real nightmare.

At one point I had a shouting match with his wife just before we were to go to my brother's house in Smithtown for a get together. As I tried to pull out of the driveway the husband tried to block me in with his truck. I managed to get out of the driveway & he began following me. Screaming out the window, tailgating me & weaving in & out trying to force me off Indianhead Road in Commack. This with my wife & 3 old in the car.

Eventually got on 25 heading east & then turned right on Old Willets Path toward Nesconset. This lunatic stayed right behind me pulling the same antics.

Just before I got to 347 I turned into the Police Prescinct on the corner of Old WIllets & 347. He didn't follow. Once I knew he was gone I went in a filed a report of the incident.

Police came around to question him the next day. Nothing came of it as his whole family (kids included) swore that they were all at home that night & had no idea what the police were talking about.

I have many more stories connected with this whole experience as it continued for 3 or 4 years while trying to sell the house (which they took every opportunity to thwart). It was a horrible time in my life.

U.S. Sees First Cases of Local Malaria Transmission in Two Decades

Five people, four in Florida and one in Texas, have acquired malaria in the United States in recent months.

In the last two months, at least five people, four in Florida and one in Texas, have been infected with malaria in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a health advisory on Monday. These are the first known cases of locally acquired malaria in the country since 2003.

Malaria, once endemic in the United States, is caused by several species of parasites transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes. It often causes flulike symptoms, including a fever and chills, but can lead to serious disease and death when left untreated. The new cases were caused by Plasmodium vivax, which is less likely to cause severe disease than some other species of malaria parasites.

All five patients “have received treatment and are improving,” the C.D.C. said. “Despite these cases, the risk of locally acquired malaria remains extremely low in the United States,” the agency added.
