the "Headline That Caught My Attention or the WTF" thread

That headline lol. It means “Racist”. It’s racist to toss shit in a volcano because it will offend a race.

Same B.S. as that lander that brought a tiny amount of cremated remains to the moon, and some tribe starts crying that the moon is sacred to them and you can't do that. I guess they think they can claim everything they lay eyes on as sacred and control it.

I think the natives originated the woke movement by claiming offense and blaming the white man for everything.

Alligator Kills Woman After Flipping Her Canoe in Florida, Officials Say

The woman was paddling with her husband in shallow water on Tuesday when they passed over a large alligator that thrashed and tipped over their boat, the authorities said.

A 61-year-old woman was killed on Tuesday when an alligator tipped over the canoe that she and her husband were paddling in Central Florida and attacked her after they fell in the water, the authorities said.

The attack took place just after 4 p.m. where Tiger Creek meets Lake Kissimmee in Polk County, which is south of Orlando, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Maj. Evan Laskowski said that the woman, Cynthia Diekema, of Davenport, Fla., was canoeing with her husband in about 2.5 feet of water “when their canoe passed over a large alligator.”

The alligator then “thrashed and tipped the canoe over,” Major Laskowski said, throwing the couple into the water.

“She ended up on top of the alligator in the water and was bitten,” he added, noting that her husband attempted to intervene but was unsuccessful. The gator, which the authorities said was 11 feet 4 inches long, pulled her underwater.

Ms. Diekema’s body was later recovered from the water.

Major Laskowski said alligator trappers were dispatched to the area, where they captured two alligators on Tuesday evening.

One was more than 11 feet long, which matched “the length and description of the alligator involved in the incident,” he said. The second gator was approximately 10 to 11 feet long. It was not immediately clear if the gators were euthanized.

Evidence taken from the alligators will be used to determine if they were involved in the fatal attack, Roger Young, the executive director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said at the news conference.

While alligator attacks on humans are “extremely rare,” they do happen, Mr. Young said.

“This serves as a somber reminder of the powerful wildlife that share our natural spaces,” he said.

Florida’s alligator population, which exceeds one million, is one of the largest alligator populations in the United States.

The Florida wildlife commission reported that the state had an average of eight unprovoked alligator bites a year over the 10-year period that ended in 2022, many of them serious enough to require medical attention.

In early March, a woman who was paddling in the same waterway where Ms. Diekema was killed was attacked by an eight-foot alligator that bit her elbow, according to the commission.

She was airlifted to a hospital, where she was treated for her injury, according to local news reports.

The state wildlife commission has been urging people to take caution in or near the water during alligator mating season, which runs from early April to June. The risk of an attack is higher, it says, because gators tend to be more aggressive, active and visible during this time.

This is the time to keep your distance and pay attention at night “MoJoe”. They’ll wonder a couple miles after a dominant bull chases off rivals and they’re ornery now.

Earlier this week, the company indicated that it would bump up prices because of the president’s 145 percent tariff on most Chinese exports.

When asked about it Thursday, Trump claimed that that was part of a negotiating ploy.

“Mattel, I don’t know. I’m not so sure. They also said—they’re the only country I’ve heard, they said, ‘Well, we’re going to go counter. We’re going to try going someplace else.’ That’s okay,“ Trump said.

The majestic Bayesian superyacht, which foundered last year off Sicily, killing seven people, was likely knocked over by an intense gust of wind and sank within minutes, according to a preliminary investigation by British maritime authorities.

As the storm approached, a young deckhand on watch delayed waking up the captain and instead posted a video of the squall on his social media feed, the investigation found.

Kim Jong-un Vents Fury After Botched Launch of North Korean Destroyer

He vows to punish as criminals those responsible for the failure, in which the ship had its hull torn open and ended up on its side in the water.

North Korea’s attempt to launch its second navy destroyer in a month has failed, dealing a huge embarrassment for its leader, Kim Jong-un, who called it a criminal act and indicated he would punish those responsible.

A “serious accident” occurred on Wednesday when North Korea tried to launch a new 5,000-ton destroyer in Chongjin, a port city on its northeastern coast, the North’s official Korean Central News Agency said Thursday. While Mr. Kim was watching, the ship lost balance when its stern slid down the launch slipway while its bow section failed to leave the ramp, it said. The accident tore holes in the ship’s hull, it added.

North Korea did not release photos from the scene. It also did not report whether there were any casualties. South Korean military officials, who were monitoring the ship’s launch with the help of satellite images, said on Thursday that the ship was lying on its side in the water after the failed launch.

The botched launch was particularly painful for Mr. Kim, who has touted his country’s military buildup, including its growing nuclear arsenal, as his biggest achievement. Building more warships to replace its decrepit Soviet-era fleet has been a key part of his program.

Mr. Kim made a stern assessment of the accident, saying that it was a criminal act caused by carelessness, irresponsibility and “unscientific empiricism” that should never occur and could not be tolerated, the North Korean news agency said.

Mr. Kim censured the officials responsible for the accident which “lowered the dignity and self-respect” of his country, warning that their errors would be dealt with in a ruling Workers’ Party meeting next month, it said. He ordered that the destroyer should be restored by the June party meeting, calling the matter a “political issue directly related to the prestige of the state.”

North Korea has traditionally hidden any accidents that could damage the image of its leaders from the wider public. But under Mr. Kim, it has occasionally publicized its failures, admitting to satellite launch mishaps, a building collapse and widespread damage from floods and typhoons. Mr. Kim has used such incidents to excoriate officials and tighten his grip on power.

North Korea launched multiple cruise missiles from one of its eastern coastal provinces on Thursday as its state media reported the ship launch failure, South Korean defense officials said.

In April, Mr. Kim attended the successful launch of a 5,000-ton destroyer from Nampo, a port on the west coast of North Korea. It was the biggest navy ship North Korea has ever built. He later watched missiles fired from the ship. South Korean analysts said that it appeared to have been built with Russian technology.

North Korea has sent millions of artillery shells and other conventional weapons to Russia to aid its war against Ukraine. It has also sent around 15,000 troops to Russia and suffered 4,700 casualties, including 600 killed, according to South Korean intelligence officials. In return, it was receiving oil, military technology and other aid from Russia, they said.

The ship the North tried to launch off its east coast on Wednesday appeared to be a destroyer of the same class as the one launched in April, South Korean analysts said.

In a report published last week, 38 North, a U.S.-based website specializing in North Korean matters, said that it appeared the ship would be launched sideways from the quay, a method it said had not previously been seen from North Korea.

“The use of this launch method could be one of necessity, as the quay where the ship is being built does not have an incline” to move the vessel stern into the water first it said. The website based its analysis on commercial satellite imagery of the shipyard.

South Korean officials said the North launched its first destroyer last month by filling water into a dry dock.

WTF?!?!????!
How does this happen?

According to the lawsuit, Rappaport was admitted to the hospital on March 24, 2022, for concerns about a possible spleen abscess or rupture. After undergoing initial tests and consulting with doctors, she was scheduled for spleen removal surgery on March 28, 2022.

The lawsuit alleged that Dr. Devon Callahan performed the surgery and instead of removing the spleen, the surgeon removed Rappaport's healthy left kidney. The legal documents also claimed that the doctor's post-operative note indicated he had removed an intact spleen.

A man in Norway woke up to find a huge container ship had run aground and crashed into his front garden.

The 135m-ship (443ft) missed Johan Helberg's house by metres at about 05:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on Thursday.

Mr Helberg was only alerted to the commotion by his panicked neighbour who had watched the ship as it headed straight for shore, in Byneset, near Trondheim.

"The doorbell rang at a time of day when I don't like to open," Mr Helberg told television channel TV2.

"I went to the window and was quite astonished to see a big ship," he added, in an interview with the Guardian.

"I had to bend my neck to see the top of it. It was so unreal."

"Five metres further south and it would have entered the bedroom," he added to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. "I didn't hear anything."

No-one was injured in the incident.

It is not known what caused the crash and Norwegian police are said to be investigating.

"It's a very bulky new neighbour but it will soon go away," Mr Helberg added.
