CAANAN, Maine (WABI) - A Canaan man is charged with manslaughter in connection with the July 4 death of his friend, who was thrown from a motorboat into the Kennebec River.

The Morning Sentinel reports Charles Frost, 22, is also charged with operating a watercraft under the influence causing death.

Court records obtained by the Morning Sentinel show Frost was driving the boat when he told authorities he made a sharp turn and Jakub Prokop, 21, was ejected.

Authorities determined that after Prokop went into the water, the boat ran over him. They also say Frost was speeding at the time.
