Chilling after today's dock project. My ramp down to the float was originally covered with roofing paper as a non-skid surface. That lasted for about 4 years and then got ripped off during a line squall. I constantly patched that for another couple of years and finally tore it out, using adhesive backed stair tread safety tape. Problem with that is time of year I install. Need to do it on a very hot day to get good adhesion, but usually need to do it in the spring so I'm constantly replacing pieces that blow away. Neighbors who used no skid paint were constantly repainting so that didn't sound like a good idea either.

Finally decided to try something more permanent. Brought two 16' pressure treated 1x8s over to a cabinet maker friend with a complete wood working shop. Since the "1" is really 3/4" he ripped the boards 1" wide and then cut them into 36" slats, giving me a pile of 36"L x 3/4"H x 1"W slats.

Went down to the ramp today and removed all the safety tape that made it through the winter and screwed into the ramp today at 20" intervals. A month or two and everything will be a nice even, gray color.

I think I finally got this beat. On the other hand this may be like an impossible dream like trying to keep squirrels out of your bird feeder...
