Have fun catch em upOff to pick up my final peck of 2020/21 oysters. Season closes tomorrow and the Friday's forecast isn't pretty. I'll load up a dockside lobster car with my haul and continue to enjoy for a few more weeks. Hopefully I can score some Oysterzillas for tonight's dinner...
Too tired to dig clams, but the freezer is loaded with enough shucked chowdahs for many batches of that and white clam sauce, and I've got some in the Roccus Clam Bed behind the house for emergency used...
Yummy nothing like fresh caughtSorting through this AM's oyster haul. Got a dozen and 1/2 Oysterzillas for cooking and 3 dozen for the raw bar. Inventory is real nice right now...
Also found a Titlest golf ball, somebody must have shanked one something wicked. I'm sure @JackPrintMD is far better off the tee than this person, isn't a golf course within 10 miles and no driving ranges for 30 miles!! Here it is in the oyster bucket for a sense of perspective. If I was a certain Staten Island resident, I'd hold the big one out in front of me close to the camera...

Today's AM crazy low tide, -1.8 ft below MLW, was fantastic for picking up oysters. Allowed me to be working in ~ 2-4" of water and reach areas I've never looked at. Here's a photo of what I'm presented with, and this oyster collection is just a "so so" area!!! Was able to fill up my 1 peck quota in 10 minutes, took longer to walk to the "secret spot"!!

And with dozen prices here ranging from $15 for really small ones to $24 for selects, my 45 minutes of time invested returned an average $63, means $84 per hour!!Yummy nothing like fresh caught
