The never ending chat thread, chat about anything That your up too

lately my inbox is getting bombarded with spam google is sending me for discounted US Postage stamps.........

I didn't think you could dicount postage stamps. Always thought the cost was the cost type of thing. Anyone else seeing this?

Speaking of Spam/Phishing; I’ve been getting bombarded ( 10 to 20 per day) with scam Mcafee emails. I keep blocking them but they seem to have an unlimited number of addresses. FYI I never used a Mcafee product; I feel sorry for those who do having to sort thru all the crap to find a legitimate renewal notice.

It's NOT a problem. I get a multitude for Norton, which I use, but I do know that is always cheaper to buy a new copy than to renew an existing one, so I ignore them all, and NEVER use autorenew.

I did get a legit email from Norton asking why I didn't renew my subscription. My answer was very short, "Please tell me why your renew fees are far more expensive than buying it new every year?" Still waiting for an answer to that...

I'm in one the throes of one my WTF does this bother you? moments. Been reading a book about ancient Athens and got pissed off when the author makes a reference to corn in Ancient Greece. Of course that set me off big time, as people forget that corn, and other New World Crops including tobacco and potatoes, didn't get to Europe until after Columbus et al. adventures.

Well I sent a letter to the author regarding her faux pas and have continued my reading. Well, turns out that Aristotle, or more probably the person(s) who translated Aristotle from the Ancient Greek to either Modern Greek or English, also screwed up and talked about corn in Ancient Greece!!! WTF????

Fortunately, I have an acquaintance who is a Latin and Greek scholar that I just sent an email to, that's the best I can do until he gets back to me.

I know, I need a life, BUT, there's still that nagging fear that maybe Ancient Aliens may be afoot here...

It should bother you...It makes me happy to know people out there know these things....corn and potatoes enabled a population surge in Europe.

Don't forget the Tomatoes. How dull pasta would be without tomato sauce. Speaking of Pasta....came from China allegedly. IDK

Potatoes are often associated with Ireland. I asked my Dad once why the Irish relied on potatoes so much that they starved when the crop failed for 3 years. He said because they grew underground and the Brits liked to burn the crops, they were safe from that.

P.S. PRETTY FUNNY BUT MY DAD WOULDN'T EAT CORN...He said that's what they fed the Pigs back home.
