The never ending chat thread, chat about anything That your up too

Can't be any worse than a real one. 😣
If you have never had a Guinness in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, you've never had a real, unpasteurized one since those are the only places in the world you can have a real one.

If you're one of the extremely few people, make that zero in my data set, who has been to pubs in either of those 2 places and had a real Guinness for the first time and didn't exclaim, "My God, it's like a milkshake!!", then you're entitled to that assessment.

For the record, every few years I weaken and try a Guinness in the States, the last one being at a pub with multiple awards from the Guinness Society of America for Best Pint of Guinness, and I have not been able to force myself to drink it after the first few sips. It is HORRIBLE...

couldn’t understand why a VULTURE was swooping in on me, 8th floor, until i realized the drying out fishtail made a unexpected lure… cell…

It really is much better in Ireland. I was over there in 2017.

THAT is what everybody tells me.

Someday, maybe, I'll try the real stuff.

I'll probably just be disappointed that I can't get it here.

Why isn’t it shipped to the US; doesn’t travel well? Or some US regs on unpasteurised beer?
Not 100% sure, but do know they don’t ship the unpasteurized nectar of the Gods ANYWHERE, not to England, Europe or wherever. Rumor has it that occasionally a place in NYC or Boston will fly in a keg or 3, but I’ve never confirmed that.

I learned the pasteurization story when I was given a quiz by my finance director. We flew over from Ireland to. Germany for a meeting. In the evening it was off to an Irish Pub in Wiesbaden. I got there a little late and found my colleague sitting at the bar with a Guinness in front of him. “Paul, that pint any good?” “Yeah it’s fine”, so I ordered one and took a sip. “Shit Paul that’s horrible!!” “Well you’ve learned what a proper pint is, proud of you! Let’s get the local Weiss Bier!!”
