Yes they are, but always a superior product and a great guarantee.

I've used Scotts for years, starting back in the late 60s when I was assigned by my Dad to keep my lawn-obsessed Grandfather happy, "I don't care how much it costs, keep him from complaining". That's when Turf Builder and all its variants became my BFF.

Since moving up to Maine and not really giving too much of a rat's azz what the lawn looks like, I've gone from a 5 time a year application to twice, TB Plus Halts, & TB Plus Two, really just to control crab grass and dandelions, not so much for the classic Scotts "instant green". As I made that second application I'd comment, "Wish they'd mix the crab grass and weed control together and then, 3 years ago my prayers were answered, Turf Builder Triple Action!!! So now it's only one, application of 3, 10,000 sq ft bags instead of 6!!

I don’t use the triple because crabgrass control also prevents grass seed from germination. And with four dogs I’m constantly reseeding ?

I've got the advantage of "Natural Reseeding". When I moved I asked my neighbor what seed he used. His comment was, "Clear it and the grass will come." Didn't believe him, but said I might as well try and one of my best lawn sections is an area that I cleared and NEVER seeded!! I never put fertilizer on it either, until I hit it was Plus Two to get rid of the dandelions.

That being said, my current definition of "Nice Lawn" is far from the green carpet that my Grandfather expected. All I know is that the sea gulls aren't complaining...

I only fertilize twice a year, and this is the only time I use chemical weed control, rest of the year I hand remove weeds

Trying to talk myself out of doing this on-line Yoga class but when I think of how much better and stronger I feel after at least 10 sessions and seeing my practice get a little better I feel drawn to it.

My hand weeding days ended when I traded up from < 8,000 sq ft to > 25,000 sq ft of lawn and as the internal, "I'm too old for this crap" clock kicked in...

Got an email today saying the yearly Soil Conservation District's Plant Sale was cancelled. Disappointing as I had promised my granddaughters that I would start a "Christmas Tree Farm" that they could inspect and help me trim when they come out this summer and I intended to get balsam firs from that sale.

No worries, easy Plan B because the "Across The Road, Dig Your Own, Nursery" is open all year . Hitched up the dump cart to the mower, headed out, and found a nice group of Balsams 1 - 3 ft tall. Ended up transplanting 7 of them and 2 white pines. Hopefully they'll take hold and at least one of them should be ready for Christmas 2025. I started harvesting my own trees this year and have a reasonable supply on hand to cover me for the next 5 years.
