the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

Last storm I couldn’t get generator to stay running without starting fluid. So for the past two hours I’ve been trying. Changed the oil , checked the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Gas is fresh and has stabile. I guess I need a new carburetor, but I called a couple places and they need the engine model number, I CANT F-ING find it

this is why I never became a mechanic. The guys I spoke with on the phone said all Briggs & Straton engines have the model number stamped on the motor near the spark plug. I don’t see a F-ING thing

Have you been putting in Ethanol Treatment also into your gas? Stabile doesn't cover the "gelling" caused by Ethanol. Bet that's what is causing your carb problem.

Startron is my "Ethanol Treatment" of choice, but recently I've totally converted to non-Ethanol gas for everything but the lawn mowers and power washer. The string trimmer, chain saw and leaf blower (sorry @CELLFISH , but I'm too old to rake over an acre of area) all get pre-mixed canned gasoline. The sacred outboard gets "fresh from the pump" Ethanol free high test.

I never had a problem since I bought it in 2009 . Just put it all back together, dropping it off at Bayshore mower sometime tomorrow in between the rain storms?
