Catching up on the news from the beautiful "Isle of Staten".

Francesco Cali, the reputed boss of the Gambino crime family, was fatally shot outside his home on Staten Island on Wednesday night, a senior police official said.
Mr. Cali, 53, was shot six times, the official said. The police said they received a report about the shooting outside 25 Hilltop Terrace in the Todt Hill section of Staten Island around 9:20 p.m. There was also a report of a blue pickup truck leaving the scene around the time of shooting.

Mr. Cali was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.

A 58-year-old neighbor who gave only his first name, Salvatore, said that he heard a burst of about seven gunshots shortly after 9 p.m.
It was also reported that he was run over by a vehicle. Wow.?

when all else fails - take a freakin' hammer to it..............................

My front storm door has been giving me issues. First the outside handle fell off.
No big deal - the hex bolt or whatever it is called that held it on loosened.

Then it wouldn't close on its own.

Figured it had something to do with the handle falling off. All I gotta do it put it back on. Tighten it down.
Viola!! Problem solved.

But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........................

Still wouldn't close.?
Played with the door closing thingy.

Now it wouldn't close once the door got into a 90 degree angle.
Kept playing with the door closer thingy. Couldn't get it to budge.
Screw it. I'll force it closed.

Pulled the screws holding the door to the frame.

Now I'm rooting around in the shed looking for larger sheet metal screws to fit the openings I've unintentionally but made perfectly larger. Found a set that was close but still narrower than the enlarged holes.

Hardware store is closed. Can't leave the door hanging off the frame overnight. What to do - what to do?

Toothpicks!!!!! That's the ticket.

Trick my father-in-law showed me decades ago. You jam as many toothpicks into the hole that will fit. Break off the bit that's sticking out of the hole. Screw in your screw right into the picks & viola! (that's the second viola I've used which is incorrect - it should be voila if anyone is counting - a viola is a stringed instrument.)

Anywho I digress...........

Where was i?
Right!
Toothpicks!

It works on wood. I've used them a number of times. Don't know about metal.
We shall see.

Stick 'em in - put in the screws &

It held. I'll go to the hardware store tomorrow & get larger screws for a permanent fix.

Everything is in place. Open the door & walk through allowing the door to close on its own.
Still stays open!!! Getting stuck on the frame.

Do some more adjusting.
Damn thing won't close on its own. Still hitting the frame.

I've been on this for about an hour or better. Should have been a 10 minute job (at least that was what I was telling myself before I started it).
Making contact against the frame about 2/3's of the way up.

Out of options.
Starting to get pissed off.

I smash the frame with a hammer where it's making contact &
