the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

We had a celebration in the house.

Calvin paid off his Student loan. Took him 7 months. Good Job Calvin.
He wanted to pay us rent for being a Boomerang kid but we told him to use that to pay off his loan.

Derek has a few more payments to go. Taking him a little over a year and a half.

Altough they paid off their loans, they are hoping that the New administration continues the Student Loan Forbearance program because so many of their friends are having a hard time finding jobs during the Pandemic.

Good for them! I’ve paid off a bunch of mine. Still have some left. Every time I want to pay them off life gets in the way. Very true about the people not paying them or continuing to kick the cab down the road hoping someone else will pickup the tab. Pat yourself on the back for raising your kids right.

Excellent news. College tuitions are nuts, and a huge drain on the economy. Both our children now recognize how valuable not having any student loans are, as their friends are still struggling to pay them off, making them unable to buy a home, even after 10+ years post graduation

They argued like hell with us during the teen years when they realized that every check they got from relatives on birthdays, holidays, etc. went into the "Kollege Kitty". However now they think we were geniuses in making sure college was covered, although they were told we'd only cover the "4 Year Plan" which they did accomplish.

excellent - kids knowing the meaning of responsibility - you raised them right - all this loan forgiveness stuff drives me nuts - if others can be responsible enough to cover their loans - all should

That’s exactly what I’m doing. They get a few bucks to buy whatever they want. The rest goes into the college fund. Too much crap.

I set up a door bell at the store so the Cashiers can ring me in my office in case of an Emergency, without alerting the cause of the emergency. Shoplifting, maskless bandits, metaly ill taking off their clothing...what have you.
My wife uses it to just call me for what ever reason.

She just pressed the button, I look over and she is not behind the register, so me thinking it's an emergency, grab my mask and run to climb down my steps and one of them gave way and bam. Almost sprained my ankle and hit the next step with my back. :(
Turns out she wanted to tell me the smoked salmon was really good last night and wants me to smoke more next week.
Told her I might have to smoke something else, if my back continues to hurts like it does now. ?
