the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

now reading the Town's Comprehensive Plan & seeing where it compares to that of the Commonwealth's & noting where it does not.

Guess he just wanted some pure, unpasteurized Guinness. He's kind of equidistant between the Consulates in Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff, but actually closer by a nose, to the London embassy.

would have had to wait a month for the interview if he went to either London or Edinburgh - don't know about Cardiff (which is a really cool town BTW)

lmaf............

I had cleaned the back sliding glass door earlier today. A lot of Max's "nose art" & "paw art" on it. Really needed it. It was all nice & clean & transparent. Looked damn clean! (y)

I was bringing in groceries. Headed out for a second load from the truck & had my keys in my hand. Now this usually signals to Max that "we're going for a ride - whoopie!!" When he gets that signal he stands in front of the door jumping up & down & then when I open it - he bolts for the far back corner of the property - pees on bush & then charges to the back gate meeting me just as I get there.

Well I guess from cleaning the glass in the door he thought it was open & skipped his usual enthusiastic jumping in front of the door & instead bolted straight for the backyard but ended up bolting right into the glass. At full speed!:rolleyes:

I still had groceries in the truck - so I opened the door (after I made sure he hadn't damaged himself - he was ok - nothing seems to phase him - I'd be laying on the couch nursing a broken nose or something) & out he charged to the bush in the far corner of the yard meeting me at the gate as I went out to retrieve my goods.

Brought that load in & left the door open this time as I still have a few things to bring in.

He saw me heading to the door & started his run again but brought himself up short of the sliding door this time which was open. He sat there for a moment - then lifted his paw up & made to touch the door with it. It passed safely through the empty space telling him the door was open. After turning to look me with an expression on his face like "So it's open this time? I can go through without hitting glass?"

He took off for the bush in the far corner of the yard.

8-)

like I say Joe - he seems impervious to physical pain - the things I've seen him do....................

I just thought it was hysterical when he went for the backyard - stopped - put his paw out to test that the way was clear then looked over his shoulder at me for confirmation that it was safe to go.

Be careful Max.
One of my guys did that once, I laughed too after realizing he was ok.
It does make them think though. I remember my guy slowly walking up to door for a while after that.

got a couple of things done before my back said "No you don't - we're finished for the day - go get a beer!!"

Did some heavy pruning on the Butterfly Bushes. They really needed it.

you come across a few when working around the yard...............

I see these two at least once or twice a season usually under something I'm picking up. The one the other day was under a pile of leaves & yard debris. It was a small Black Rat Snake about 2 feet in length. Both are harmless to humans & non poisonous but can get pretty large. THey have a tendency to scare the crap out of you when you find them because you aren't expecting them to be there.

Black Rat Snake - this one can get to eight feet & can climb

these seem to be the most common
