Working in the garden Wader?
Were they trespassing??
was just putting together the payroll (we pay all cash) & in going through the bills to place in each worker's separate envelope I came across a 1953 $5 bill that the bank included in all the cash (payroll was $6500 for the week)..........
Was curious if it had any added value due to age so I looked it up on the internet. Could be worth between $12 & $100 depending on condition. It's in very good condition for a 66 year old bill. Actually for that age & use I'd call it excellent.
Gonna hold onto this one.......................

Only uncirculated, crisp bills retain any real value. Even though it looks "excellent" for an old gal, it's probably on that lower range of worth.
The $5 with red seals is a US Treasury Note, instead of the more frequent green seal, Federal Reserve Note. They used to be fondly referred to as "Greenbacks", based on a very green back Notes printed long before 1953...
I'm tell ya - this thing feels "crisp" - you know - like bills you just got out of an ATM that are difficult to separate from one another? Like they were just printed? No folds, no tears. Looks better than many of the 2013's I get. It almost looks uncirculated or only circulated for a very short period of time.

Looks like it has multiple folds, those are anathemas to paper currency collectors. No doubt it looks great for a 66 year old bill, but that's not factored into the grading system. Bring it with you next time you go to Richmond and find a numismatic collector store and ask them to grade it. Keep it flat!!
