the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

Did you really check on sex? Not too difficult on a bug...

You know, I almost hate to admit this, but this is the first time I was made aware of the tail shape criterion, and am a bit skeptical about that, I never got past the males' 1st pair of horny little swimmerets.

Now I'll start looking "down" at lobsters and see if I can pick out the females, which we see very infrequently in Maine. Here, like in every other state, if a female is caught with eggs on here, they have to be returned, BUT Maine is one of the few states that enforces notching of the tail. The notching is a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card". For her entire life in Maine, because she was a verified breeder, she must be released. Hmmm, does that mean in Maine we just eat virgin female lobsters????

OK - I'm done for the day.

All Sun.
Been at it for 3 hours (I think - something about desert time)

And just came across Virginia's only known Scorpion sitting on a piece of wood I was about to put in the shed. Sucker was about an inch & half & waving his little stinger thingy at me.

I didn't know we had scorpions in VA. Had to go look it up.
Southern Devil Scorpion.

Which was out of his range.

A speck of Virginia: But to find it in our state, you'd have to go to Lee County, Virginia's westernmost tip. Even then, the Southern devil scorpion seems to occur only in the Cumberland Gap, located in the westernmost 2 miles of the westernmost county. So if state lines had been drawn slightly smaller, our only native scorpion wouldn't be ours at all.

well they're wrong about it's location that's for sure

that’s news worthy, Onancock Chronicles... cellie...

on the phone with Verizon Customer Service listening to how they botched coming to day to complete my installation. Tech was supposed to be here been 11:30 & 3:00. Never showed. At 4 I called asking is he coming?

No.

The order is marked complete.
"How is that? I have no phone jacks in the house. The first guy that came a month ago hooked me to the line on the pole out front. Draped the line all around the house & then just dropped it in a window because he couldn't enter the house because of the virus."
I'm now being transferred for the fourth time!!!!

still not resolved - they said I have to go through the Business Office..................

"That's who transferred me to you. They said they couldn't do it."
"Don't know why they told you that. Let me transfer you to them."
"Does this mean I'm going back on hold for the rest of my life?"
"No. This is an inside line. Someone should pick up right away."
"Thank You."

of course......................

"You've reached the Verizon Business Office. Our hours are from 8 am to 5 pm EST. The office now closed. Please try your call tomorrow."

Tomorrow I'm probably going to tell them to cancel the service & come get your damn equipment. I left my other service provider due to their sheer incompetency. Verizon doesn't seem to be any better!

workin' on the boat drilling holes and running wires ..... I think the heat might be slowing me down a little. I feel like I'm moving in slow motion.
