Depends on the situation and fish. Weakfish definitely like Krocodiles best, for stripers I prefer Hopkins Shorties, at times Ava-style jigs w/tubes are great from the beach, and they're my go to for Squidding and Vertical Jigging for bass, blues, weakfish & groundfish, Kast Masters always good too, my favorite in small sizes for mackerel...

nearly 40 years ago as a newbie, ran to moriches thanksgiving week… in the snow, 10# bluefish were all over, as I was using Hopkins shorty 2.25…

I was hooking up every +10 cast while the others were hooking up almost every other cast… one fellow said try this, he gave me a “tin wit a tube tail” as I was catching much more than before…

I remember it well, big sandeels being pushed onto sand wit gulls effortlessly gliding over em and picking em off… cellie…

Kastmasters my definite go to. Blues or bass. Especially for the windy days. Buy them plain and tie on my own harvested bucktail with a little flash-a-boo. I haven't used bait in over 15 years yet only caught my first surfcast striper on a plug just last year. Those cheap Ava-7 (?) type from Terminal Tackle imitating sand eels ( I guess) have caught a few stripers off the beach for me as well.

many years ago on beach, maybe Jones..fellow was sweeping for metal.. find anything good I ask, yeah some lures… he sold me 100 mostly Hopkins for $100… obviously he kept the other models… rugged lure Hopkins… I still have many, I like bait… cellfish…
