Today I made calls to a few local (tri-state area) tackle shops looking for my newest reel of interest to target tautog. The Abu Garcia Gen4 Revo Beast 40. One was closed, one doesn't carry Abu Garica, one was sold out of the reel. One shop thought I'd be better off with a different reel.

I ordered the revo beast on fleabay, just checked that listing to PM you but they're sold out at that price...let's just say it was WELL under MSRP. If you're having trouble finding it locally, keep an eye out online.

buddha162, I looked last week on eBay and saw an excellent price of $213.00 + $12.00 for shipping. Then as I read further it said "some" of the reels were refurbished and some were new...That scared me off.

Once I get something in my head, I start to obsess. So, I had the day off this past Monday and I wanted to head out to Trophy Tackle and see John and buy the reel from him. On a hunch, I called the shop first and found out they are closed Mondays...That's when I just bought it from Tackle Direct. Reel was delivered for free in 2 days. Can't beat that.

At only 9.5 ounces, I'm really happy with it.

Okay boys, I've upped my "light tackle" tog game again...

BOUGHT THE BEAST!

This reel is really sweet...AND WOW is it light! Weighs just 9.5 ounces!

I threw it on my two lightest tog sticks (both CTS BS702's - built with different components) by Capt. Richie just to get an idea of what the combos weighed. Both rods with the BEAST on it weighed LESS than 1 lb.!

Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to putting this tiny little reel to the test against some BIG tog ASAP! I think Abu Garcia hit a grand slam with this beauty!

Something tells me I'll be buying at least one more because a psychopath like me is gonna need to have one of these painted to match my newest emerald green CTS BS702!
