Tog trip with Captains Table

I did a first time charter with Captain Mike yesterday from Captains table Charters in Greenport Long Island. There were five people in our party and three of us own boats on the South Shore and mine is now docked in Stamford Ct for the fall Tog season. I put this trip together because I never fished out that way(North Fork) for Tog or anything else for that matter, and through this forum got in contact with Capt. Mike to do some shallow water Togging . We grinding it out and I believe we made our limit of Tog with some BSB and a few porgys as well. It wasn’t a beat down but we caught fish and all went home with bags of nice fillets. My friend Dave coming in with biggest at 6.75lbs muscling out BFJ (Black Fish Jimmy) at the wire. Daves son Kyle was high hook as usual , as he clearly is the best fisherman in that family. (Inside joke). Jimmys son in law Mike started hot right out of the gate but cooled a bit at the end . His comedic value and wit is always a pleasure to be around. After a few Rhode Island charters and an Ocean City Maryland trip a few years ago, I rarely do a charter anymore because I really like fishing on my own boat, but with that said , I wouldn’t hesitate to do another charter with Captain Mike if the situation presented itself. I found Captain Mike to be very knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. More than that he was easy to talk to and didn’t hesitate to share fishing info , stories , and a few laughs to boot.

Can’t wait for the weather to cool a little to make some of your famous Tog chowder, it’s my go to recipe from back in the old days at that other site.

Glad you had a great day with Capt Mike
I had the pleasure of fishing with him last year with my 83 yr old dad. I’ve been fishing since I could walk and we’ve had countless awesome fishing trips together but the day we has with Mike ranks up there as one if our favorite times ever on the water!
