Trick or Treat ?

I have always made sure I was home from work or more recently, hunting/fishing, in time to put on a mask etc. and answer the door as I recall how much fun I had as a kid. I always put out a bunch of decorations as well. But this year ? I think I may just post a sign saying "sorry, see you next year." All the young ones these days walk around with parent chaperones (I would have died before doing that!) and the older ones can read. As for a bowl of candy bars on the porch, what if one kid who is asymptomatic burrows to the bottom for a Nestles crunch and the next kid who has asthma catches it and dies ?

I've been debating this myself. I don't know exactly what, if anything, I'm going to do. One wonders whether or not parents will allow their kids to go out.

My kindergarten pal in Florida just replied on an email to me that if she still had a kid she would not let them go. I am thinking of it from the "get off my lawn" point of view, not wishing that this old man contributes to the potential demise of others (or me)

We get many every year, this year we will put a table blocking steps, if and when children show up, we will place candy bars on table and they can take it from there.

We expect to get maybe half of what we usually get but that’s society in general lately...everything is 50/50
Some will venture out, some will not I’m sure.

Don't know what to expect, last year the doorbell rang once, my driveway is almost 250'. I think the kids are too lazy to walk that far.

Easy for me, my part of Maine is the home of "over the river and through the woods" to the nearest neighbor, there is virtually no house to house Trick or Treating. Families drive into town and go from car trunk to car trunk, and also stop in the local businesses. We haven't had a one in 10 years, BUT the Admiral always has a bag of Snickers (her favorite, my least favorite) "just in case", yeah, right!!!

I do miss it though. I would always dress up and give out the candy..

Don't be a Halloween Scrooge.

That's interesting. This morning I was talking to the admiral about the same thing and suggested we could make a chute that went through the window to the doorstep to dispense treats. Obviously these people took it up a notch, but it parallels what I was thinking.

Thanks for posting that.

sorry kids:(,, going to hang the sign on the inside of our stom door,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ><)))):<

I decorated, and bought the candy. Probably going to add my "winter weight" a month early. If my kids were of that age they would not be going out.

bummer its come to that Mr. Mojoe but I don't disagree with you.
Hopefully you have enuf cleaning supplies to clean the eggs off your house that get tossed at you, LOL

We are taking the approach of hanging in the driveway and setting up a table as a buffer to avoid kids coming up to the door.
Not sure how many, if any, kids to expect since the last few years we were either at Dead and Company at MSG on Halloween or at friends parties.... I really don't anticipate many but we are prepared just in case.
Not sure if my son's driveway jam will draw kids or scare them away ?

There's a guy with his family down the block. They're all doped up.
He thinks he's coming knocking on my door with his kid. I wouldn't
even attempt to ring his bell.
