Tsunami Holo-Teasers: A friend gave me a pack of them to try. Anyone use them?

What is a good hook to use with them?

Thanks!

You mean these?:

I know how I'd use them. Up ahead of my hook on the top hook of my B/S jigging rig. Like this beat up home version is rigged:

And here is my new favorite hook to use with large GULP! baits, like the 6" Jigging Grub or 7" Jerk Shad - I like the 5/0 size, others go with the 6/0. The Mustad 3400-BN:

They work well, have used them for a really long time now.My 2 biggest fluke came up with those teasers on the chicken rig.One on Blue and the other on white. They are a good item to have in your tackle bag.

Blue 5" GULP! jerk bait on my bucktail's trailer hook has always been a go-to. Dey luvs dem dings.

Pete..you may already know this...but DICKS now has the 3 for 15.00 on the gulps (must buy 3 at least) free shipping over 49.00 and there is a 6.00 rebate on three you can submit online.

I think I will forego Dicks this year. One, they went anti 2nd Amendment and removed all hunting and shooting (is fishing next, that is what happened at Sports Authority) and Two, I will go to grocery stores and walk with the wife at my local park, but that is it. Am closing in on 70 and would like to make it. Capt John Paduano doesn't even tip his jigs with plastics, let alone bait !

Solid intel, Gene. I was NOT aware the sale had started. Thanks for the heads-up!

glad to return a favor....they are allowing two rebates per household....hopefully on one receipt

Grabbed some blue which I have never tried...but if you..capt Richie...and Togilator endorse it that's good enough for me...pink shine has been my favorite.

Pequa1 - you are right, of course. Reprehensible action by Dick's. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't take advantage of a really solid deal. Didn't Dick's move the gun stuff to their sister stores, Field and Stream? I don't hunt, but next time I'm in their Melville F&S store, I'll have to have a look-see.

BTW, Salmon was smokin' HOT last season in the area I fish. But this year I will give the big blue grubs a fair shot.

Yes, the Field and Stream store is still selling gun stuff but two of the F&S stores upstate were sold to another outdoor sports firm and I think the Melville one will follow. I still think with Modells and Sports Auth. gone, Dicks may think they can get by selling Mets and Jets crap, along with sneakers of course, and those evil things that poke holes in harmless little fishies will be gone from the store as well. And last year despite my hating the joint I did buy the Gulp at a discount with the online rebate. Except for food shopping I simply am not going out, would rather spend a couple extra bucks and mail order in. Being a news nut, I really don't think many of us realize that this is not the flu.
As to lure colors, while I would love to say that its all in the action and jigging is the key, I did seem to do better with pink and white Gulp last season in my back bay kayaking. Of course I took home twice as many weaks as keeper fluke and I did go to lighter tackle (thanks to you with the plastic skirt and H&T 3/4oz minnow jig advice) and would be quite happy to just duplicate the 2019 season although a limit of 3 snappers definitely hurts. If those darn blowfish start to bite up my Gulp again, let this be "their" warning. I will do some clamming off the yak and proceed to catch every one of those ugly but delicious little things and singlehandedly try to rid Matzohpizza of the pests !

Edited to add- I can only find last year's rebate online ( ? ) and checking the Dicks website, aren't the stores closed with masked employees coming out for curbside delivery only ?

I mail-ordered my Gulp. With the free shipping, no need to traipse up to Melville, for curb-side pick up.

As an aside, though I have my own ideas where to look, where would you say the blowfish were thickest last season? Matzo-Pizza Cove maybe?

My grandson is now 7 years old and I’d like to get him interested in what I’m interested. Unlike his father (my son), he appears eager to get on the boat.

I only caught a couple of blowfish by accident, although since they are such prolific bait stealers maybe it was pure skill. I saw guys on boats that could run the inlet east of the cove in the E-W channel bailing them while I paddled and drifted past, going for the rare keeper fluke. they were either using clam or squid. With small hooks they are easy to catch, and since fishing for three snappers on the barbie will be a waste of time, I am thinking of trying for them myself this year if the fluke are still MIA in my paddling neck of the woods. Will search for those rebates again, although I thought it was too soon ( ? )

Who wouldn’t? We used to absolutely slam those kingfish critters in Zach’s Bay and anchored up along the bank, inside the first entrance to Tobay. Until they chased us out of there, for good.

The typical July/August Bay day trip back then was a couple of buckets of mixed kings, bay weaks and blowfish. All you cared to clean, back at the dock. Them was da days.

EFF Dicks. I've been getting my gulps from Shark River Mail Order. Check out their website below. $ 29.99 bulk pack price (6 packs of the 6" gulp grubs). That is $ 5./pack which is their regular price!. Plus shipping is free and no sales tax (For NY customers) and no wasted time driving to the store,. They carry the newer "hot" colors too without a problem. www.srmo.com

With my first boat I even caught porgies off the long dock in Matzohpizza. Gone too.
