Tsunami Holo-Teasers

Yes, thank you for reminding me, Rick. I’ve used SRMO as well. Their regular price is just as good as F&S’s sale price.

Regarding northern Kingfish although it is not a slam-dunk like the old days, as Lep referred to, we do still see a reasonable by catch in the Peconics each year. When either anchored or drift fishing for Porgies we often find a handful mixed in on most days. Not usually more than 6-10 for an entire outing but enough to make a tasty meal or two. Prime time seems to be when water temps are fairly high, around mid July to early to mid September.

I figured theres no better time to make a bunch of fluke rigs then now since I'm stuck at home (Also a Massapequean, Pequa1. Stay safe out there!). I ordered some "knock-off" Tsunami holo teasers from Amazon a few days ago and they just got in today. I plan on adding them to some chicken rigs or the teaser hook of a Cap't Al rig but I am worried about them sliding too much on 30lbs flouro. Do you guys think it'll be a problem? Should I go searching for some beads or is there a better way to tie them on?

Thanks!

I have used those sliding 'hula skirts" on fluke rigs in the past while dragging Gulp and they have always stayed right up against the eye of the teaser or plain hook. Now that I am doing a much more pronounced jigging with lighter rigs, maybe, just maybe, they would slide a bit, but on the "upswing" I am sure they will come right up to the eye again. With all the slipgut in the backbay, I have tried to avoid using snaps, "paper clips", barrel swivels and even beads of late.

Amazon just delivered my 10lb Daiwa J8 braid and some more 25lb fluoro leader today so tomorrow am going to replace the 15lb braid on my Tsunami slimwave and Daiwa BG2000 and try tying that DU knot !

Good to know that a little movement won't ruin anything. Thanks! And I agree with cutting back on any clips and what not, especially when using a two hook rig and light tackle. Good knots are all you really need, imho.

I mostly use palomar knots with braid and improved cinch with mono/flouro and as long as I keep the tag end relatively neat they seem to cut through the weeds pretty well but I haven't found a better knot for switching out heavy bottom bucktails yet. I heard about using a T-knot instead of a dropper loop to keep the teaser from tangling up with the main line as much but it seems like it would be a magnet for seaweed in the bay. Might give it a try and save it for deeper/clearer water.

My daughter found another use for the Holo-Teasers. My pup is 10 years old.

Hmmm. 2 points
1. Blue is my favorite color teaser especially in the shallows inside in shinnecock. I’ve actually been doubling up by putting small white rubber skirt on top of blue nylon/Mylars

2. I will gladly buy from Dicks if the price is right. They as a retailer have every right in a free marketplace to sell whatever they want to sell. I was just there last week stocking up on shells
