Voluntary tuna closure?

Saw this post on Facebook by a Tuna page.
Not sure how true it is? Has anybody else heard about this?!

It is certainly true that tuna prices are in the tank because of oversupply but this sounds highly unlikely and is illegal under the federal antitrust laws.
 
Nothing illegal about it. It is true, nobody up north is buying BFT, prices are low because the quality of the fish is low.
 
Buyers cannot get together and agree not to buy BFT for whatever reason. They can each independently make that decision. Agreements to boycott can land you in the slammer under the antitrust laws. Now there’s nothing wrong with buyers independently deciding not to buy because the quality is bad.

The reason is that would be "Price fixing" , that is illegal.
