Ward Melville 2025

Here's a couple of last year's seminars - worth the watching. Skinner is always good, and Bob Schmitt docks his Grady 22' Charter boat "Sea Rogue" across from me in my marina.

thanks Lep, i appreciate that.
do you happen to have a link to Doug Toback's talk?

capt. Mike was well into his seminar by time I finished talking to people, made myself around and my buddy was ready to go. Was ok with that had to come home get stuff together for tomorrow’s upstate pheasant hunt.

Enjoy the show guys. I opted not to go. Still can't walk for a long time and the last thing I need is to be bounced off like a pinball.
Hope you are feeling okay after surgery. Good thing you didn't go to the seminar. It was so packed. I never went before, all of Long Island was there. You would not have been comfortable. It was hard to see the table setups due to all the people. You could muscle your way in once you saw a display that interested you but that was only if you could see the display to get to it. But Jeez Louise, their was everything there to look at. I went extra early for parking but it wasn't really a problem and it was very organized. The doors opened at 0830 and there was a huge line. I went right to the auditorium to meet Capt. Mike and listen to his seminar. He started at 0900 and probably didn't get the audience he should have due to people just arriving. Fortunately for those of us that made it, it was a great lecture on North Fork techniques and fishing spots along with tide and current considerations. People kept filtering in but missed a lot of the meat due to their late arrival. One thing I can say, Capt. Mike is really into it and those that attended enjoyed his wealth of knowledge. From what I heard at Mike's seminar, I'm sure he runs a great charter out of Greenport and his passengers have a fun day of fishing with him.

Capt Mike is top notch and absolutely runs a great charter. I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with him and introducing him to my fishing buddy Frank Sr (aka) the legend who will celebrate his 88 birthday Tuesday.

Everyday is a little better. Thank you! He is a pleasure to fish with and listen to his stories.

I guess this question is directed to you. This show is a big hit. I love the show. But if you read the feedback on this post, comments like the ones below show a issue:

  • I opted not to go. Still can't walk for a long time and the last thing I need is to be bounced off like a pinball.

  • left after an hour, just tooooo crowded for me.

  • said it was great and way more crowded then he remembers from last year.

  • Was definitely crowded no doubt about that

  • Agreed on crowded.

  • Good thing you didn't go to the seminar. It was so packed.

  • It was crowded

Other comments made to me were “WM show has gotten too popular for my taste and “I wanted to go. But after my knee replacement, I was afraid”.

Is any consideration being given to how to mitigate this? Is extending the show for two days a possibility? The New Jersey show, as an example, is 3 days. It would also give you a chance to expand the speaker list.

Again, I really enjoy the show and have gone every year. Just hoping that maybe some thought to continuous improvement may be considered.
