Weather

I was in bed and awoke by wife that the weather channel interrupted her show with a weather alert.

Tornado warning for our area with a grounding reported in Ronkonkom heading South.

We are just south of Ronkonkoma and she became alarmed, I. Got up and we headed for the basement.
Neighbor called and said one of our garage doors were open and just closed it, you can buy a house anywhere but you cannot buy your neighbors.

All good now, it blew through heavy big time with rain.

I will have a night cap and to bed.

Safe and Sound to all.
Good Night.

Wow, didn't hear about a grounding. Just the alert in TV that there was a warning.

Local weather news Warning went out when they thought it could be a grounding and you might get the warning before it hits so they are in their mind...in the know and serving.

I think they should have a better system and actually be in the know, so they can responsibly report.

They are schlock reporters and work off a weak feed they are afforded.

God help these poor people in the path of this monster
A CAT 5 Hurricane with winds of 160mph, a storm surge of 15-20 feet and up to 30 inches of rain in the exact same area that just got hit with a CAT 4 Hurricane 2 weeks ago.

Hurricane Iota Discussion Number 13
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL312020
1000 AM EST Mon Nov 16 2020

Iota is a very impressive hurricane, especially for this late in the
year, with a distinct, warm eye on satellite images and a rather
electrified eyewall from the GOES lightning detector. An Air Force
Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft found maximum 700-mb flight-winds
of about 147 kt, with SFMR values of 140-145 kt, and a central
pressure of about 917 mb. A blend of all these data leads to an
initial wind speed of 140 kt, making Iota a category 5 hurricane,
the latest category 5 on record for the Atlantic basin. A little
more strengthening is possible today with fairly light shear and
warm waters before Iota makes landfall tonight. Rapid weakening is
anticipated over central America, and Iota should dissipate in a
couple of days.

The hurricane is moving westward at 9 kt. This general motion with
perhaps a slight gain in latitude is expected through tonight due
to a large ridge of the high pressure to the north. After
landfall, the cyclone should move a little faster, and dissipate
over the higher terrain of central America. The new forecast is a
little south of the previous one, mostly owing to the initial
position.

This is a catastrophic situation unfolding for northeastern
Nicaragua with an extreme storm surge of 15-20 ft forecast along
with destructive winds and potentially 30 inches of rainfall, and
it is exacerbated by the fact that it should make landfall in
almost the exact same location that category 4 Hurricane Eta did
about two weeks ago.

Did the leaves and lawn front & back in a T shirt, very Mild Weather all day.

Hope it gets colder so we dont have to cut any more.
another good thing about zoysia. won't need to cut it again until May. Heading to the beach for some casting practice and hopefully to see my first green flash.

Yes. A light tan from early November until mid-May. I haven't bought or used fertilizer, herbicides, fungicides, grubicides and only put down a bag of lime twice in the last 15 years. I wasted water on my front lawn for 90 minutes in late June and again in mid July. Watered once in all of 2018 and twice in 2019. I mow maybe every ten days and without rain can make it 2 weeks. Crabgrass doesn't stand a chance against it and dandelions cower in fear. I wish it would grow as well in shade but now that I had to take down a tree in the backyard I transplanted roots and plugs of it this past September to back there and hope it takes over from that water and nutrient dependent perennial rye and Kentucky blue ! No fish today though.

The Roccus is NOT amused. Just saw an analysis that strongly suggests that when we have a warm November, like we're currently having, we have a less than 1/3 chance of having a cold winter and getting a normal snow fall or better :mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!!!!!!!!!

Crap that would make 4 winters in a row with poor snow falls. That is not happy news!!! I was really hoping for more than a couple of snowshoe outings, which has been the best I've had the past few years !

Beginning to think I could have left the boat only half covered ! I enjoy tracking deer after a snow. that is I used to, but its been three years !

I'm not a hunter and don't own any firearms.
From my understanding. Once the deer get
there food covered from snow they start to
move looking for food and in the rain they
tend to lay.

Wow, in the middle of the longest thunderstorm we've had maybe in the entire year of 2020. So weird that it's in late November o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
