It’s snowing again in Astoria.![]()
on the south shore its so wet and heavy that even with gusts in the 30s or 40s there is NO drifting.Coming down gangbusters now. Have at least 7", maybe more, but with the blowing, who knows??
Interesting even with sub 20 temps seems the 1st couple of inches were wet, but stuff coming down now is fluff. Blew things away from the garage doors to help plow man.on the south shore its so wet and heavy that even with gusts in the 30s or 40s there is NO drifting.
I’m pleased. We had fun. We took our time moving it and brothers came over with dogs next door and took over back yard, we had a blast.so what was the damage?
Satisfied?
Disappointed?
My outdoor Christmas light timer that I have had for decades finally gave up the ghost. Had to order from Amazon as the big box stores all had "in store delivery" and evidently nothing in stock. Discover card is 5% off on Amazon stuff at least. Then I realized that one prong of the three had half broken off in the extension cord. I spliced on a replacement female to the cord, but its as old as the timer, so I went back on Amazon, lol. Meanwhile I jury rigged an indoor timer, left it in the garage between two extension cords and the Angel with the trumpet isn't lighting up, so I guess somewhere under the 5 inches of ice its connection to Santa Claus is loose, lol. Yes, its 2020.so what was the damage?

Years ago I saw a great NatGeo (I think) show about BIW building of one of these. I've been trying to find it ever since and can't, along with a special on how Ferrari builds the cars which included the sand casting of the aluminum engine parts, another great watch...I asked Santa for a model of one of these Arleigh Burke class destroyers. I usually just build WW2 but I watched every episode of "The Last Ship" and it does seem that for the first few months of 2021 this will be a good time for another model.
Looks like we are getting the last of the snow about now. I would estimate between 5 and 6 inches of some of the heaviest snow I have ever shoveled. Had to use some water to open up a door of the truck as my wife had a doctor's appointment we did not want to cancel. (Was careful not to spill it on the windows.) then I started it up to heat the hood and roof. Windshield and mirrors had one of those covers we got two years ago and used once until last night. Well worth it, windshield was pristine. (Must remember to put it on the night before I go after Bambi's grandparents again!) Just have to finish cleaning off the wife's car for tomorrow's delivery of some charity gifts (by her) while I go back to the range and kill some paper targets.
