Weather

Some decent rain totals from this nor’easter. 1.10 my location in queens 1.43 hicksville. Most of Suffolk county had over 2 inches of rain. Snow came down decent for a time but for it to stick during the day on the sidewalk and streets it has to be below freezing and snowing 2-4 inches per hour. Tonight gusts to 50 mph are likely in Suffolk county and Nassau. Less wind in the five boroughs Of nyc Looking at 35 to 40 in gusts.

Was sticking on the unsalted roads

Well, we're back on the generator. We went down around 16:30 for an hour. I was surprised that it went back on so quickly, BUT "Genny" is hard at work again. I'm thinking we're down for the count now, way too windy for anyone to be up on the Cherry Pickers.

Thank Poseidon for Standby Generators and auto transfer switches. Power goes out, 5..4..3..2..1..VROOM-BANG, and "let there be light!"

Over 1/2 of my town is out of power, thank Poseidon for "Genny" and a nearly-full 1,000 gallon propane tank. Power Co. has yet to post an anticipated restoration time, and with the wind still gusting over 30 MPH, we'll probably be looking at no power until later today if not tomorrow AM.

Only got around 3" of the "predicted" 5-10", so can't even go snowshoeing today. Oh well, no functional impact on our lives...

Maybe I can unfollow this thread until hurricane season when I can check in again to see if we are all going to die and / or drown. I don't need to see Florida weather (or Maine's either for that matter) and since not a day goes by wherein I don't check with the Weather channel, accuweather.com, the windy app or weather.com I doubt I will have a problem hunting or kayak fishing until of course, I am going to die (or drown) in the proverbial storm of the century during hurricane season.
