Looks like a last minute north shift on models today...

NYC and LI likely dodging the big 4"-7" rains and will just be a standard 1"-3" with most of it overnight tomorrow and over by Thursday morning.

Nope, no dodge last night.

3.15 inches of rain fell on Central Park in an hour, from 8:51 to 9:51 pm

we got about 4 inches in Matzohpizza. I thought it would have been more. I didn't put anything away yard and garden-wise but got lucky. Basement OK too.

I was very surprised to see the amount of deep flooding on my way to work this morning. Hillside Avenue in Mineola had six cars stuck in it. It wasn't just the roadway.....the water was all the way into the stores on both sides. Did my good dead for the week and rescued 2 women from their cars and got them to dry land.....funny to watch them crawl out of their windows into the back of my pick-up. Shame on the trucks and buses that drove past them fast enough to send a wave of water over the cars and into the open windows. I just hope someone would do the same if it was my wife or daughter stuck like that.....on second thought, hopefully they would be smart enough not to try and drive through it in the first place !

what a mess over here we had 10in of rain in a short time,,go look in the thread what mojoe is doing now?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ><))):<
><))):<

seems I lucked out - with all the warnings I was expecting a real mess - some heavy rain for very short period of time - same with the wind

GCP near work this morning was a disaster! Abandoned cars all over the roads, both east and westbound. They are slowly starting to clear them up.

Turned around this morning and returned to work from home. There was no way to get across the Saw Mill River Pkwy/ Rte 9 to my office on the other side.

Dozens of cars being flatbedded off of Central Ave in Yonkers on the return trip home.

What is crazy is that we normally get 3 to 4 inches of rain in a month. Central park had 3.14 in one hour. A months worth of rain in an hour. That is why a flash flood emergency was issued.
