this Spring / Summer is shaping up like 2018. Wet, wet, wet (especially on weekends). I wanted to apply another coat of varnish to my boat's brightwork in yesterday afternoon's low humidity but forced myself to go to the gym instead. Tomorrow and Friday are both HHH. Varnish doesn't set up properly in humidity > 60%. Last summer I didn't splash my boat until July 4th (don't ask). Due to winter storage up in the boatyard last winter, the varnish on my windshield failed in multiple locations. So I took my windshield down to bare wood again (fifth time in 15 years of ownership) and only managed to get two sealer coats and two coats of Epifanes varnish on before it started raining every weekend. When I removed the tarp this Spring, the varnish had once again failed in several spots. So back down to bare wood it went (in sections). I'm back to the same point I was last year now, and the humidity is upon us. It's no wonder that I never fish, spend all my time working on the boat. P.S. the cockpit sole needs to be re-painted too, blistering all over the place. then I need to clean up all of the varnish I dropped on the non-skid. by the time I'm done, I'll be putting a tarp over her again.

at least its not one of the multitude of "plastic" boats the rest of us use !
Pequa, it's a 1985 solid-core fiberglass boat with a mahogany windshield and trim. I varnish because my dad did (lost him in 2015). It's too bad I'm not as fussy about my home's appearance as I am about my boat's

Overcast really moving in. Got some flash flooding weather on the phone until 2am. Hopefully it cools things off. ??
It’ll probably make it super humid come Friday afternoon/ Saturday ?

News12 CT is calling for t-storms this evening but I see no systems approaching on their (admittedly lame) radar. where are these boomers coming from?

Storm seems to be moving in a northeasterly path with northern jersey, Yonkers and along CT getting the heavier stuff. Whitestone/Bayside área looking at predominantly just steady rain over night.
