Aid Begins to Reach Bahamas Islands Devastated by Hurricane Dorian; At Least 43 Dead | The Weather Channel

People who have seen the devastation say there are dead bodies lying amid the rubble in some places, and the stench of death hangs in the air. Government officials had warned that the death toll is likely to rise.

"Let me say that I believe the number will be staggering," Minister of Health Duane Sands said, according to the Nassau Guardian.

He said crews would be going door to door in both Abaco and Grand Bahama "and we don’t know what we’re going to find."

Sands also said the government is bringing in additional morticians and refrigerated coolers to hold bodies.

"I have never lived through anything like this, and I don’t want to live through anything like this again," he said.

A man described to the newspaper what happened when his 5-year-old son was swept away beyond his reach and disappeared into the storm surge covering Abaco.

"I still could remember him reaching for me and calling me, 'Daddy,'" Adrian Farrington said.

He didn’t see the boy again.

No need to panic but the trough and blocking setup is ideal for an east cast hurricane threat. Maybe even a double threat like in 1955.

European model basically has Sandy part 2, while most other models affect further south.

No need to panic, but somethiing too keep an eye out for in the Sept. 20-25th timeframe.
