Not exactly, or entirely. Although I referred to Stamford as to where the “headquarters” of his business was located, it actually was not. The corporate headquarters on paper was located in East Windsor, NJ. The Stamford, CT location was mostly, sales, marketing, & engineering. It also had the most VP’s. I don’t think it helped his cause having a home just a short distance away in Greenwich, CT. He actually purchased another multi million dollar waterfront home in Mammeneck, NY., while he owned the CT estate. He used that home to hold meetings in when he could not go back into CT for the remainder of any given year. All the big wigs would drive the 20 minutes from the Stamford office to his Mammeneck home for meetings.
So CT thought it was a good use of resources to try and land a big tax haul. Makes sense.
