He isn't from Kenosha. Since we weren't privy to all the testimony, videos, etc. I can only surmise that self defense played a large part with the jury. After hearing about the guy pounding on him with a skateboard, another grabbing the barrel, and another pointing a handgun at him, I thought he would only be found guilty of underage carry but that charge was inexplicably blocked. Again, I wasn't in the courtroom.
there is some truth to the saying that its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. It does go along with Nassau county all but requiring the carry of a loaded handgun when going to and from the range. Never did hear of anyone being accosted in the parking lot there.

I am 1000% all for using any and means for self defense
If this were a situation where he had he been protecting his own home and property I would also be 1000% in his corner.
However, he CHOSE to leave his home and travel with an AR15 and go on offense so I'm not understanding how he qualifies as being in self defense mode when he intentionally put himself in a hostile situation

Its a good point (although your phrase "go on offense" may or may not apply), but a point that I thought would sway the jury away from self defense. Are there links to the videos presented ?
