SCOTUS gives partial victory to GOP trying to enforce proof of citizenship to vote in Arizona

The Supreme Court partially handed Republicans a win in their fight to enforce proof of citizenship when voting for president in Arizona.

The court was asked to allow enforcement of sections of Arizona law requiring documented proof of citizenship to cast a ballot in the presidential election, including when voting by mail.

I cannot even fathom that a point like this would have to be in court!!

Just got an email from the district superintendent. The boy went to my daughter's school. 4th grade. So sad what a tragedy.
Mother was high on drugs and drunk.

That's why I'm so glad I'm seeing "Speed limit strictly enforced" and "Obey the sign or pay the fine" on the signs on the parkway. And that trooper pointing a radar gun at me at 3:00 pm. That's going to save lives.

There's been a number of these instances lately. Last week I took a friend to JFK at about 6:00 am and there was an overturned car by the troopers barracks. On the way back, there was a fresh one with about six cars collected and a Honda toaster on it's side stuck against a bridge. No cops there yet.

All these things happen in the wee hours, but our government is protecting us by ticketing commuters.

Use of law enforcement powers for revenue enhancement should be a felony.

And no, I did not get a ticket. I'm just fed up with being yet another pocket they're looking to pick to "protect" us from the a-holes.

There no State Police on parkways early morning. Take Northern State for example. 10 years at 5 am from Smithtown to Melville, I seen “1”. Now passed few years to Hicksville on Southern State at 6 am, none. Unless there a wreck.

Think he just gagged out that he’s not competing in battle ground states as to not hinder Trump.

As a senator, Barack Obama supported expanding compensation for black farmers, and then as president he pressed for $1.15 billion to pay those new claims. Other groups quickly escalated their demands for similar treatment. In a letter to the White House in September 2009, Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, a leading Hispanic Democrat, threatened to mount a campaign “outside the Beltway” if Hispanic farmers were not compensated.

The groups found a champion in the new agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack. New settlements would provide “a way to neutralize the argument that the government favors black farmers over Hispanic, Native American or women farmers,” an internal department memorandum stated in March 2010.

The payouts pitted Mr. Vilsack and other political appointees against career lawyers and agency officials, who argued that the legal risks did not justify the costs.

Beyond that, they said it was legally questionable to sidestep Congress and compensate the Hispanic and female farmers out of a special Treasury Department account, known as the Judgment Fund. The fund is restricted to payments of court-approved judgments and settlements, as well as to out-of-court settlements in cases where the government faces imminent litigation that it could lose. Some officials argued that tapping the fund for the farmers set a bad precedent, since most had arguably never contemplated suing and might not have won if they had.
