Whats going on in the World

Santa Ana winds are nothing new for this area. Fires are nothing new either. Local officials choose to prioritize other "projects". People choose to live in a fire zone.

California, which spends billions annually on wildfire recovery, is considering a bill that would help pay for damages. Already enacted in New York and Vermont, the Climate Change Superfund Act makes the biggest corporate polluters pay for their fossil fuel emissions, which cause global warming.

Cardone further criticized: "It's a mismanagement of priorities. The state of California, for the last 25 years, is more interested in freak, fringe groups' agendas than they are the population of California… Maybe this is going to be it, when the people of California finally have had enough and start voting conservative, common-sense politicians or business people into government to manage their budgets."

"Elon Musk is attempting to go to Mars, and we can't get pressure and water to hydrants? We have plentiful water. We're on the Pacific," Cardone reacted. "They're going to try to make this out to be a climate-warming agenda… This was just mismanagement, a lack of priorities, the government trying to handle fringe groups and support these weird agendas rather than the things that really concern the California people."

Cities in Blue States Experiencing Larger Declines in Gun Violence in 2023

Original analysis from the Center for American Progress Action Fund shows that, on average, cities in blue states have lower rates of gun homicides and shooting incidents than comparably sized cities in red states and are seeing larger single-year decreases in gun violence rates in 2023.

AND.......DRUM ROLL!!!

Yes, California's GDP is larger than the combined GDPs of many red states. California's GDP is the largest in the United States, and it's also the fifth largest economy in the world.

Don Junior Forced To Flee Greenland After Less Than 24 Hours

NO GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL WOULD SEE HIM!! LOL

Donald Trump Jr. was promised a large crowd of Greenlanders when he landed at the Nuuk airport Tuesday. Instead, he got, at best, a handful of fans for his unofficial visit.

While aboard “Trump Force One” to visit Greenland, Sergio Gor, a Trump ally and the incoming director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, told Trump Jr. a significant number of people would show up.

“The whole town is showing up, I think, at the airport,” Gor said in a teaser clip of Art of the Surge, an Apple TV docuseries on Donald Trump’s resurgence and presidential victory.

Hours later, upon arriving in Greenland, it appeared just a few locals showed up to greet Trump Jr. and his team.

New York’s highest appeals court declines to block Trump’s sentencing in his hush money case

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York’s highest court on Thursday declined to block Donald Trump’s upcoming sentencing in his hush money case, leaving the U.S. Supreme Court as the president-elect’s likely last option to prevent the hearing from taking place Friday.

One judge of the New York Court of Appeals issued a brief order declining to grant a hearing to Trump’s legal team.

Trump has asked the Supreme Court to call off Friday’s sentencing. His lawyers turned to the nation’s highest court Wednesday after New York courts refused to postpone the sentencing by Judge Juan M. Merchan. Merchan presided over Trump’s trial and conviction last May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in what prosecutors called an attempt to cover up a $130,000 hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels. Trump has denied wrongdoing.

In a filing to the top New York court, Trump’s attorneys had said Merchan and the state’s mid-level appellate court both “erroneously failed” to stop the sentencing, arguing that the Constitution requires an automatic pause as they appeal and that the sentencing would disrupt the Republican’s presidential transition as he prepares to return to the White House on Jan. 20.

Prosecutors pushed back, saying there’s no reason for the high court to take the “extraordinary step” of entering a state case to halt a sentencing that’s been delayed at Trump’s request.
