Expert reveals massive levels of waste DOGE can slash from entitlements, pet projects: 'A lot of fat'

Fox News Digital spoke to Just Facts President James Agresti about the many areas in the federal government that DOGE can target including entitlement programs.

James Agresti, president of the nonprofit research institute Just Facts, spoke to Fox News Digital about some of the opportunities to make cuts to entitlements and pointed to $2 billion worth of improper payments at the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 2022, which was enough to pay 89,947 retired workers in 2023.

"It's hard to wrap your head around a figure like that," Agresti said. "There's a lot of fat in Social Security, as there are in almost all entitlement programs."

"In 2010, the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration did a study of this problem, and it found that there were 800,000 noncitizens who had Social Security numbers and were working under them, which means they can receive benefits on them, and they obtain those Social Security numbers by submitting false birth certificates to the Social Security Administration," Agresti said.

Agresti told Fox News Digital that "nothing could be further from the truth" and when it comes to social security, DOGE is "trying to make sure that your Social Security check is there and not lost to fraud."

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon lashed out at employees who had been strongly advocating for the Wall Street giant to ease up on its five-day return-to-office policy.

"Don't waste time on it. I don't care how many people sign that f---ing petition," Dimon said when asked about the in-person work policy during a town hall meeting Wednesday, according to a recording reviewed by Reuters.

Dimon was referring to a petition that had been circulating among a group of workers opposed to the company's latest policy, which was requiring hybrid workers to come back to the office full-time.

Among the target list was a twice-deported illegal migrant from El Salvador who was convicted of sexual assault of a child and managed to escape.

Also on the ICE target list was an illegal migrant from Mexico with an alien smuggling conviction who already had been deported once.

"It is extremely rewarding and to see these criminals taken out of the community so they can’t reoffend," Bradford said. "That’s the thing you can’t measure, the crimes that you prevent by taking these folks out of the community. That’s, to me, what’s very rewarding and what I try to remind my folks of all the time."
 

Republican Senator Slams Hegseth For 'Rookie Mistake' On Ukraine​

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee thinks Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a “rookie mistake” earlier this week when he undercut Ukraine’s bargaining position with Russia before peace talks have even started.
In an address to NATO in Brussels Wednesday, Hegseth, a former Fox News weekend host with no prior experience implementing defense policy, said it was “unrealistic” for Ukraine to expect a return to its prewar borders or to join NATO.

Hegseth also sharply criticized America’s closest military allies and said NATO wouldn’t rescue a European nation if it’s attacked by Russia.
“I don’t know who wrote the speech — it is the kind of thing Tucker Carlson could have written, and Carlson is a fool,” Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) told Politico in an interview at the Munich Security Conference Friday, referring to Carlson’s inexplicable infatuation with Moscow.

Wicker said he was “disturbed” by Hegseth’s comments, adding, “Everybody knows ... you don’t say before your first meeting what you will agree to and what you won’t agree to.”

President Donald Trump has broadcast a particular chumminess with Putin, but Wicker called the Russian authoritarian a “war criminal who needs to be in prison for the rest of his life.”
“There are good guys and bad guys in this war, and the Russians are the bad guys,” he added. “They invaded, contrary to almost every international law, and they should be defeated.”
