No skin in the game nor impact in my area, but their $$$ are a good chunk of Maine’s economy. Old Orchard Beach, AKA Jersey Shore North, amusement pier included, has a huge Canadian following. It’s the closest sand beach area to Quebec, New Brunswick & Nova Scotia. The hospitality businesses in Southern are sounding the alarm bells.

There are also shopping bus tours that frequent Freeport & Kittery’s outlet stores, although with the more unfavorable US$ vs CA$ exchange rate to date, I’ve seen less of that recently.

I wouldn’t bet against it. Many of the hotels down in that area are booked for the next summer a year in advance and they are reporting significant cancellations from our Northern friends for this year, cancellations that began BEFORE this recent Prime minister’s call.

And to add insult to injury, some US yearly visitors have started to cancel because of the Transgender cluster. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I look on the bright side, if tourism is down, we may be able to get reservations at favorite restaurants.
