Today’s broccoli rabe isn’t near bitter enough
they have bred most of not all the bitterness out to the point where it’s not really broccoli rabe anymore

back in the day before it became chic and hip it was better
Once upon a time blanching took some bitterness out especial when it was out of season and really bitter

now a day it just sucks out the little flavor it still has

I’m a hard pass on blanching
 
TONY, as we get older our "taste buds" arent as sharp as years ago, perhaps thats Y the Rappini taste different for ya todat... Tobacco and other reasons may dull the flavor... if ya want sharpness, squeeze some lemon juice on top, I do once in a while... cellfish...
 
That’s true but in this case not accurate
Back in the day when vegetables were more seasonal
And it was only “ good” in season
When you got it early and late it was very bitter ( not lemon bitter love lemon not a fan on broccoli rabe I’m a purest )
In seasons it was still much more bitter than it is today
I was raised on it
They have bread some of the bitterness out
