Yep Manor Rd.Manorville?
Dam just when I thunk I been all over the IslandYep Manor Rd.
Bingo. One of the few Nike missile silos left. Always wondered just how big the infrastructure was to one of them.
Who said it’s abandoned? There’s one in Dix Hills also just recently removed the rail road over pass on Commack Rd leading to it. You’ll see it on Google Maps if you want to look. Was one next to Wading River High School they removed while renovating the Army Reserve. All silos.Pretty sure that's not a Nike Silo. I'm pretty sure that it was a weather radar setup for Grumman or maybe even still active collecting weather data? I've seen those all across the country. Nike Missiles didn't have launch silos, they sat outside on launchers, and were stored in large underground "magazines".
The NY Defense Area doesn't show, nor list, any Nike launch sights east of East Shoreham, where there is an abandoned launch site.
From Rocky Point (NY-25) Nike Base
Rocky Point (NY-25) Nike Base:1957-74, Suffolk County, Brookhaven, Rocky Point. Integrated Fire Control for launchers at Brookhaven. Located between Wading River Manor Road and NY Route 46, South of NY Route 25A. Easternmost of the NY Defense Area contained multiple radar systems, ACQR, LOPAR, ABAR, HIPAR, and reserve radar integration system. Defended nuclear research at Brookhaven National Laboratories, Gruman's Calverton test facility and Suffolk County AFB. See also NIKE.

Please clarify. Do you still claim that the Calverton VOR-DME (Very high frequency Omni directional Range finder) used for aircraft navigation is really an active or inactivated Nike Missile Silo as originally claimed?Who said it’s abandoned? There’s one in Dix Hills also just recently removed the rail road over pass on Commack Rd leading to it. You’ll see it on Google Maps if you want to look. Was one next to Wading River High School they removed while renovating the Army Reserve. All silos.
There much you will never know or find on PC. Your not allowed to know.
That’s a cool list of Long Island sites??Leftover traces of the approximately 265[2] Nike missile bases can still be seen around cities across the United States. As the sites were decommissioned they were first offered to federal agencies.
