Crap Cellie, Washington never took NYC from the British. There was never a battle in NYC AFTER the British drove him out. Washington walked into NY AFTER the Brits evacuated...

That being said, not sure if George ever took a leak at the Elm or not...

On November 25, 1783, nearly three months after the Treaty of Paris was signed ending the American Revolution, the last British soldiers withdraw from New York City, the last British military position in the United States.

OY, so that's how folks spin facts...

The only army chased out of NYC during the Revolution was Washington and the Continental Army, albeit it was a masterful, and pivotal retreat from Brooklyn Heights. Had George not engineered that, and Jefferson & Franklin unable to convince the French to help out, we'd be driving on the left side of the road.

And George didn't sashay down to the Battery until well after General Henry Knox, from Maine, had taken troops down there to see that all the Brits were gone, and all Union Jacks were taken down...

You might want to watch Episode 1 of the excellent Ric Burns New York documentary, if not the entire set, really excellent...
