all the animals are likeness of Bear Mountain critters and are hand carved wood, beautiful... ya gonna get on next time general... cellfish...
 
I loved going to that place when I was a kid! I used to go sleigh riding and ice skating in the winter. I even remember when they had the ski jumping competitions.

first time I was ever there, I always been a Harriman Park type of fellow, Lake Tiorati, Kanauwake Circle, Island Pond, Seven Lakes Drive... started almost 50 years ago, Shortline bus to Appalacian Trail... a few roads are closed during winter, makes for enjoyable walks... cellfish...
 
I think I may have caught my first fish in Hessian Lake at Bear Mountain. My mother made a hook out of a pin and I caught a sunny on a worm that we dug up.

I was up there a few years ago for fall foliage. The ski jump is still there but all fenced off. The "control tower" was there and the run to the jump was all overgrown but still visible. I was told the last time any ski jumping was done was 1980. I loved watching the competitions when I was a kid.
 
Its cheating for me since I pass it a couple of times a week by water or by car but you are or were on the south side of the old ponquogue bridge
