I saw a few being launched from dry dock on their maiden voyage from Electric Boat. My brother was the head welder on the submarine’s.

Flying on a little 4 seater from Westerly, RI to Block I saw one down below. What struck me was how very long the prop wash was. That was back in the mid 80’s.

You should “hear” them, NOT. Early one foggy morning I was waiting on a dock on the New London side of the river. I started hearing water noises when out of the fog a pair of 688s came out appeared making absolutely ZERO mechanical sounds.

BTW, this was the origin of the ferryboat we were on.
