winterized, but what if unused this summer ?

The 90hp 4 stroke at the time (1999) was a hundred pounds heavier and a thousand dollars more. and, God forbid, I guess I am going to take the wife out for a couple of long boat rides this summer to halve that tank. She usually outfishes me somehow so I am not sure if I need to take any rods for that humiliation ! I do not intend to fish with anyone from a different household this year. Gotta make that age 70 next year ya know !

I wasn't suggesting that you had or should have a four-stroke. My friend's 150s are two-strokes, with the oiling system like Fluke Whisperer describes. Maybe it was an option, or only available on larger engines. I dunno, just figured it would have it.

Have a safe, socially distant boat ride, or two.

Yes, it was an option but for the added weight and expense was not worth it to me. Even my salesman felt that way. Since I gas up in my driveway, adding oil has never been a problem and although admittedly since I started kayaking 14 years ago it doesn't get that much use, that 90 Yamaha has been great.

You made the right choice at the time, four strokes where just in their infancy back then, I know people that have forked over big cash to have the lower exhaust housings replaced on the first yamahas up to 2007, I'm not crazy about four strokes, there's a lot more parts and their a lot more expensive to maintain than 2 strokes. Like everything else, you take care of it, you will get years of enjoyment out of it, Oh, and I hear ya on the making 70 next year, I will be 70 come January 2021 Hopefully.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, right now it's tough to think about anything other than whats going on around us, stay safe. Jay

Jay, that is probably why our salesman whispered that the 4 might not be worth the added expense and weight at the time. I am the guy that is perfectly happy with my 2010 Ford Ranger that has about as much electonics in it as a 1970 p/u. I even asked if they still came with crank windows, although I did want automatic and AC, lol. I definitely recall our salesman Phil (?) Marsala telling us at the time that the 4 simply had more to break... So many peeps hated the old Glenn Marine in Huntington but we never had any problem with them. Art

Ha, I have an 05 Tundra limited, with 40k miles on it, I just bought an update for road GPS navigation, I had ver.01 the one I bought was Ver 15.1, I was way behind. Although I work in the IT field, sometimes I like simplicity, technology has a way of making simple things more complicated than they need to be, and where it really needs to addressed it's not.

Got a Tom Tom portable for the Ranger. Built in GPS probably weren't even available on the 2010 Ranger. On a weedy ramp or in heavy snow hunting, I have to do the shift to Neutral thing for 4WD !
