wreck fishing off fire island in december

hello all. i was wondering if someone could enlighten me on the wreck/bottom fishing nearshore in December off fire island. I'm usually out of the water by now but the weather has been mild and I was thinking of planning a trip to target sea bass, cod, tog and whatever else. Problem is I don't know how far i need to run this time of year. I was thinking the 20-30 miles wrecks may be good but i'm inexperienced for this time of year. Any help would be appreciated.

I can do that. The fishing is generally pretty good on the ocean obstructions S of FII, and (in general) the further East you sail, the better the fishing. What you need is to purchase a Captain Seagull chart for that area - and all will be revealed. The numbers on that chart are surprisingly accurate.

I'm all set with charts and equipment. I fish near/offshore regularly during the season. Im just trying to figure out how far I need to travel. My last several trips to the 10-15mile wrecks late October were met with nothing but porgies.
