My Father used to say: "You leave them alone and they will leave you alone”.

How NOT true. One stung me on the back while working on a car. I didn’t even know he was there. It felt like someone put a cigarette out on my back. I have been stung more times this year than ever before.

I have noticed all the stores are sold out of yellow jacket traps are sold out. Anyone know of any good ones I can get on Amazon? Not sure if anyone has personal experience with them.

Once I actually looked down on my arm to see one chewing on me!! At least I was able to deal him a fatal finger flick with no sting...

they actually came in handy for me several years (who am I kidding - several decades) ago...................

I had a grub infestation in my front lawn. Lots of the grass was dying. So before I put the grub killer down I raked up all of the dead grass. A "swarm" (I'm not kidding you - there were hundreds of 'em) swooped down & began feasting on the exposed grubs. They were cutting them in half & flying off with the bodies.

It was pretty amazing to watch.

Naturally I wasn't going to get in the middle of that. So I waited until it was over & then applied the grub killer.

A different article stated that they want meat and insects for the larvae all summer, but once late summer hits and the queen begins her hibernation, they switch to sugar (nectar, fruit, daiquiri's...) before dying off.

Are you positive they were YellowJackets and not Ground digger Wasp?
