YELLOW JACKET ?

A story to bring a smile to your faces.

My dog came running out of the wooded area of my back yard and had yellow jackets all over her. After we cleaned them off of her, I went looking for the nest. I found it on the ground a small hole that looked like Grand Central with all the activity.

I got my bug zapper and tied a note in the electric cord so I could drag it. I went a distance away and then dragged the zapper over the yellow jacket hole. As expected, they got really annoyed. They swarmed out. I heard.. Zap…ZAP ZAP..ZAP Zap ZAP…ZAAAAAAPPPPPP. The yellow jackets were determined to sting the zapper. The zapper was “No you won’t either”. Smoke rolled out of the zapper. The next day the were may dead bodies. I sprayed the hole to be sure.

Up North I have several Hummingbird feeders on my property. As summer draws to a close, and Fall approaches the little bastards are all over the feeders. The Hummingbirds will still use the feeders but they won’t get too close to the Yellowjacket’s.

I was doing the fall cleanup last week on a warm day. I don't know where she came from but I got stung on the top of my ear. My ear looked like a wrestler's cauliflower ear and hurt like hell for a week. Like we are all saying in this discussion, yellow jackets, which are actually wasps, are one of the worst stings. (I have never been stung by a hornet). I was a beekeeper with 25 hives. I got an occasional sting and one day I got over twenty stings all around my neck and wrists. It wasn't near as bad as a yellow jacket sting.
