One time I saw a whole bunch off Montauk. I went out there for tuna 1993/1994 and on the way out I saw these little things scooting on top of the water and thought I was seeing things . I looked very closely again and wow they were flying fish. Never saw them inside 30 miles ever. I saw them about 40 miles off Montauk.
