Surf reports

spot burning has been the biggest issue with online surf fishing reports. How many times has a spot that holds a few guys been blown up online and then over run? Knuckleheads leaving trash and illegally parking on private property has caused loss of access on more than one occasion .

Oh I hear you. The RM sand eel bite from 6or more years ago killed nor’east. Where i fish there is no private property and unlike jones it stays fairly clean. Open beach with little structure but town residents after dark only

That sand eel bite was all up and down NYS. It was also a bail job at west end 2.
What I'm seeing is the locals in the area. They have easy access to good fishing
grounds. It's a simple and comfortable walk. The sand eels were also deep in the
back of jamaica bay. Yes you read it correctly. Sand eels deep in the back of Jamaica
bay during the fall run. The stripers were biting good that year. The bluefish also
love sandeels too. They'll snap them in half out of a reaction bite. Not necessarily
a migratory feed. Field 6 at jones lights up.

This is dangerous. I'm a AAA caster.

5 distance fisherman came on the pier and intimidated
20 other fisherman. By the end of the week the local B&T
lost 80 percent of it's business. You see how smart I am.

But it did kill the fishing reports both surf and boat with all that spot burning bs..
Killed the surf reports not the boat reports noreast was built on sharing fishing info a few surf guys crying about spot burning of their secret spots thatwere never a secret ruined the surf reports

not necessarily. as much as we hate getting "mugged" and "sharing" God's beaches and fields, its the paucity of new hunters and people fishing that endangers any future conservation efforts. Discouraging the "googans" and ruining and eliminating public hunting lands in some ways defeats the purpose of the Pittman-Robertson Act of 1937. Whitetail deer would be a museum piece. Remember the moratorium on stripers in the 80s ? Hell, NY even found itself dropping, yes, actually reducing, the cost of a big game license by 25% just a few years ago in the hope that the license, hunting and shooting fees that support outdoor sports would increase overall.

It's especially true for Striper Fanatics like me. You want my cod hump numbers, they're yours? Striper spots, well maybe under extreme duress. That being said, all the spots are tide specific so even if I gave you the numbers, I'll take the specific tidal information to the grave with me...

I'm so tightlipped about stripers that I surprised my son, who is well-versed in "omerta", this past summer. We took my young granddaughters out mackerel fishing he was shocked when I was nonplussed as they would proudly boast "We're catching Mack-A-Rel!!" to every passing boast. He looked at me and I quickly commented, "Mackerel fine, but if they did that with bass, granddaughters or not, they'd be swimming home!!"

which is why I see nothing wrong with a very general location (which once typed is already old news---Newsflash, fish swim !) such as Central South shore, North fork, etc. Of course, a guy texts his buddy who can't make it but texts his next best buddy, who then texts his... But mostly I want to know if a stretch is weeded in. I can stand outside and know the direction of the wind and guess whether there is a significant sweep. I suppose the guy that works 6 12 hour days can use a little more. One thing I find irresponsible is taking pix of fish, any fish, you are not harvesting for dinner, with the possible exception of a PB over the slot if it can be released quickly.

And the the crying of a few destroyed it for the many. Where are the crying surf guys? Just here to make sure surf reports stay locked down, what few that are left.
